1. The Dead were in the midst of recording Workingman's Dead, and a good chunk of the album is featured, along with a few tunes from the subsequent American Beauty ("Ripple," "Sugar Magnolia," "Truckin'") and a bunch of blues and rock & roll covers that help make this a loose-limbed good time.

8. This album also finds Lee Dorrian in fine voice - his delivery ranges from the nearly melodic (Nephthys) to an aggressive howl (Living With The Dead) and throughout the album his vocals are bathed in numerous effects, giving them a semi-psychedelic, unreal element.
